POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for talented and committed educators to serve as Teaching Fellows for our elementary schools. Our Teaching Fellows will be an integral part of the establishment of curriculum and culture as we develop a world-class early childhood education program from the stages of vision to execution.

We realize that the outcomes our students deserve necessitate continuously strong teaching from the time our students enter kindergarten until they graduate from college. As such, our Teaching Fellows will work closely with the school leaders and lead teachers at KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth to ensure that our students learn, grow, and eventually achieve transformative life outcomes. In collaboration with a Lead Teacher, each Teaching Fellow will be responsible for ensuring that our scholar-leaders have the opportunity to learn in an environment of joyful, excellent teaching. 

Above all else, the ideal Teaching Fellow will find joy and purpose in teaching children the habits necessary to be successful in school, and s/he will relish the opportunity to imbue our students with a love for learning. S/he must also be committed to KIPP DFW’s mission, while possessing the beliefs, character traits, and skills necessary to ensure student growth and achievement.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties
  • Periodically plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility throughout the year
  • Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school
  • Develop teaching skills to potentially become a full-time teacher at the school
  • Teach small groups of students ; Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support
  • Observe Lead Teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management
  • Meet regularly with the lead teacher and coach to implement feedback on lessons and instruction
  • Participate in regional professional development and coaching designed to build instructional knowledge and strategies
  • Assist teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities
 
As appropriate, perform all duties expected of classroom teachers, including but not limited to:
  • Implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards
  • Designing and implementing assessments that measure progress toward academic standards
  • Using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips
  • Providing direction and guidance to support positive student behavior
  • Supervising students during transitions, breakfast, lunch and recess 
  • Being accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
  • Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participating in school-based professional development
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Work toward the State of Texas’s qualifications for highly qualified teacher, preferred
  • Experience working with children, preferred
  • Bilingual, preferred
Work Schedule
  • Weekday hours are from 7:00am to 5:00pm
  • Professional Development: 3 ½  weeks from mid-July through mid-August
  • This position will operate on the KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth academic calendar. 
Compensation 
Salary for this position is competitive and dependent upon prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.

  • Long periods of standing and sitting and have the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
  • Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing.
  • Position will require travel.
  • Periodic participation in activities to support the KIPP Team and Family is required.

  • Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high quality education for all students.
