Job Title: Student Support and Intervention Specialist 

Position Description:

This Resiliency Room Coordinator is responsible for assisting school culture by implementing an instructional academic and behavioral program.

Resiliency Room Coordinators are alternative educators providing a safe and productive educational setting that best supports students who require more individualized interventions to reach their full academic, social, and emotional potential. Their main focus in on providing a safe and supportive environment for students while building skills to be successful in grade level classrooms.

Direct Report: Director of Support Services

 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessments and screeners for long term

  • Developer of Individualized Student Resiliency Room Plan

  • Provide supervision for student(s) who are assigned in long and short term Resiliency Room Classroom.

Measurable Outcomes

  • Assessments and Screeners are completed and shared with Director of Support Services, Assistant Principal(s), Wellness Coach, and SPED Director (if applicable) within 1 school day.

  • Student Plans: 

    • 100% of student plans are completed prior to student scheduled start date for long term Resiliency Room.

    • 80% of daily student plan is followed and marked complete.

  • 80% or higher on walk through rubric for management of room

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan development via pre existing menu (long term)

  • Management of room for short term (following predetermined protocol)

  • Communication of Support Plans to stakeholders

  • Data collection and record keeping

  • Take daily attendance if applicable

  • Review policies, procedures, and student expectations daily

  • Communication: Verbal/Written to teacher, parents, school leadership, and other support staff.

  • Provide supervision for student(s) who are assigned in long and short term Resiliency Room Classroom.

  • Work with students on reflection, skill building, and prevention

  • Provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, provide computer and/or classwork, and instructional assistance

  • Communicate via email or in person 1 day in advance to request work for students

  • Communicates on a regular basis with classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting students with assignment completion.

  • Implements lesson plans and objectives for the purpose of lesson completion

  • Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Performs general record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance logs, activity reports, etc.) for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements and providing up-to-date information.

  • Processes behavioral issues with students (e.g. reason for suspension, preventing further incidents, etc.) for the purpose of helping students’ identify causal agents and preventing them from occurring in the future. Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of informing regular classroom teacher/s of students' progress.

  • Trained in safe physical intervention CPI

  • Other duties as required or assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in education, counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
