About KIPP New Orleans Schools

KIPP New Orleans Schools is a non-profit network of 12 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating 5500 elementary, middle, and high school students. Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources oversees the growth and development of non-instructional KNOS team members while also ensuring outstanding benefits administration and records compliance for individuals throughout the organization. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and requires significant collaboration with the School Leader and School Operations Leader (SOL) of each school as well as peers throughout KNOS’s central school support center (SSC). The position requires:
  • experience setting vision and direction for a team and annual department plans including employee total compensation benefit packages
  • ability to guide a robust onboarding plan for the organization’s approximately 700 employees

Responsibilities
  • contributing meaningfully to the development and implementation of long-term goals and strategies related to KNOS human resources
  • creating and maintaining systems that ensure accurate, up-to-date employee records for all team members
  • establishing efficient, consistent processes for onboarding new hires in coordination with the recruiting team
  • preparing annual recommendations for benefits program offerings and overseeing the program’s administration
  • supervising timely and accurate payroll administration in conjunction with the director of finance
  • overseeing (and leading as necessary) investigations into staff concerns and complaints
  • leading an annual review of the KNOS employee handbook
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • A master’s degree in a related field (highly preferred)
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience directly related to human resources (required)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams (required)
  • Adult management experience (required)
  • Experience identifying the need for and implementing systems and processes (highly preferred)
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (required)
  • Ability to understand a variety of labor levels and volume
