About KIPP Through College & Career
KIPP Through College & Career (KTCC) works with graduates of KIPP NYC middle schools and high school, Achievement First NYC high schools, and a growing number of other select high school-serving organizations, to empower them for success in college and the world beyond.  KTCC currently works with over 1,500 high school students and 1,600 college-aged students (and growing!) through 1:1 advising and programs related to College Access, College Success, Career Services, and Alumni Engagement. 

About the KIPP, AF, Uncommon College and Career Success Collaborative
KIPP, AF, and Uncommon will leverage our collective knowledge, experience, scale, and networks to develop breakthrough college and career strategies that dramatically improve post-secondary outcomes for our students and communities. We will focus first on our schools and students in the NYC area and then expand to reach students across the country. Together we aim to achieve the following goals:​
  • Help more students from low-income families persist in and graduate from college​
  • Help those who don’t earn a BA secure a credential in an in-demand industry​
  • Help all – those with a BA or a credential – transition to a strong first job and improve pathways to economic mobility.​


Position Overview
The Data and Systems Manager is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting on alumni, college persistence, and career attainment data to drive programmatic decisions. They are also responsible for implementing organizational data strategies and building capacity for using data within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
General responsibilities fall into three interdependent categories. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Data Analysis, Application, and Action
  • Designing and building data tools and dashboards for audiences including KIPP Through College & Career, KIPP Foundation, and the KIPP NYC region. These tools will drive internal decision-making, professional development, and insight into student and staff performance, and ensure smooth program operations.
  • Analyzing and presenting data to provide insights into and evaluate KIPP Through College & Career’s programs.
  • Training staff in the use of technology tools, including G Suite and information systems including Salesforce.
  • Collaborating with KIPP Foundation and Collaborative Advising partners to ensure timely reporting for accountability, development, and oversight purposes.

Data Management
  • Creating, implementing, and managing key processes, including enrollment verification and updates and transcript collection.
  • Building, improving, and maintaining in-house tracking systems for key information such as credit accumulation and financial aid awards.
  • Improving processes to ensure consistency of information across multiple student information systems, including but not limited to Salesforce, ATS, and PowerSchool. Develop and maintain documentation for data collection, management, and integration processes.

Data Strategy
  • Use Leadership or stakeholders’ assessment of future data needs to execute a data strategy to meet those needs.
  • Assist in building capacity among stakeholders to better use academic data, analytical tools, instructional technology, and rigorous analyses to improve programmatic planning, monitor alumni and organization progress, and drive alumni growth and achievement.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders in order to encourage their questions and surface opportunities to provide support.

Qualifications
KIPP Through College & Career is looking for exceptional individuals who have a strong interest in building a program of excellence.  We are seeking individuals from all backgrounds who believe in KIPP NYC's mission and who have the potential to excel as professionals and leaders within our program. 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in data and/or systems management are required
  • Robust quantitative and analytical skills, including experience working with large datasets to derive insights
  • One or more of the following is required:
    • Experience administering Salesforce or another information system (building reports, managing data, training staff)
    • Fluent in programming in SQL or other data analysis languages and/or software
    • Familiarity with Tableau and/or other data visualization software
  • Intermediate or higher MS Excel and skills (PivotTables, Conditionals, VLOOKUP, formulas) is required
  • Familiarity with G Suite and creating shared documents is required
  • Strong analytic, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills. Able to convey information in a way that is strategic, honest, timely, and respectful
  • Ability to gather information to interpret and articulate the needs of staff and team members
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, partners, and audiences
  • Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility, including the ability to adjust to requirements in a dynamic work environment
