Here’s what you need to know:
KIPP NJ is looking for a talented, motivated, mission-driven person to serve as an AmeriCorps Vista for our after-school program for students in grades K-4 in Camden.  Our goal for our after-school program is to provide our students with academic support and high-quality enrichment activities in a fun, engaging, supportive environment. 
Responsibilities
  • Create and implement procedures for student transitions from school to after-school program.
  • Assist Program Director in troubleshooting challenges raised by teachers, program staff, or families.
  • Assist Program Director in ensuring that all required HR documentation for staff is completed successfully.
  • Create, maintain, and update spreadsheets and other organizational systems for documenting students’ information and progress.
  • Assist Program Director in creating regular parent workshops in conjunction with the after-school program.
  • Plan and execute Kick-Off Events for after school and summer programming
  • Create and implement systems that ensure that teachers take accurate attendance on a daily basis.
  • Proactively identify students who have repeatedly been absent, and work with Program Director to develop interventions for these students.
  • Create a database to store partner information and outreach tracking
  • Do outreach to organizations to meet about the program and potential partnership opportunities
  • Plan three field trips each semester for students to attend during after-school program
 
Must Haves (i.e., key skills to succeed in this role)
  • Previous experience working with children
  • A commitment to continuously improving your skills at working with children, through training and coaching
  • A growth mindset and responsiveness to feedback
  • The ability to be flexible in a new program environment
  • Zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor 
  • Strong work ethic, organized, positive attitude and energy, and motivation to take initiative
 
Benefits
  • Living Allowance of $14,907/year ($542 biweekly before taxes)
  • Segal AmeriCorps Educational Award of $5,920 payable to a lender or educational institution
  • 10 days of personal leave and 10 days of medical leave, in addition to the schools holidays
 
About Us
KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy (KCNA) in Camden, NJ, is part of KIPP New Jersey and the national network of KIPP Schools. Nationwide, KIPP operates free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students in under-served communities for success in college and in life. Opened in 2014 as Camden’s first Renaissance School operator, KCNA provides guaranteed enrollment to all students in grades K through 8 living within its catchment area in South Camden. In 2018-2019, KCNA will operate three schools: KIPP Lanning Square Primary, KIPP Lanning Square Middle, and KIPP Whittier Middle.  By 2020, it will grow to a network of five schools that will ultimately serve over 2,500 students in Camden.
