KIPP Houston is looking for a certified art teacher who is well-versed in the art TEKS as well as developmentally appropriate practices. This teacher will offer a well-rounded experience in art.




Job Requirements

 

  • Creating rigorous and engaging long-term, quarterly, weekly, daily, and lesson specific lesson plans that will challenge students beyond their current grade level
 

  • Setting clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction
 

  • Creating and providing meaningful and frequent student assessments in a timely manner
 

  • Providing necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students
 

  • Going above and beyond to ensure all students are meeting appropriate standards
 

  • Maintaining records of student attendance
 

  • Creating and maintaining a positive classroom environment that promotes good behavior and commitment to excellence
 

  • Upholding the code of conduct and all school policies
 

  • Maintaining an open-door policy
 

  • Building relationships with parents by communicating student academic and personal growth
 

  • Counseling with honesty and ethical confidence when social and academic issues arise with students and parents
 

  • Participating in and organizing extracurricular activities
 

  • Working collaboratively with peers in vertical and horizontal planning configurations
 

  • Active and positive participation in departmental meetings, parent conferences, and school-wide training events
 

  • Enthusiastically seeking regular observation and feedback for continued professional development growth
 




Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
 

  • Certification is preferred but not required
 

  • At least two years of full-time teaching experience strongly preferred
