JOB TITLE:    Human Resources Specialist
 
REPORTS TO:  Human Resources Manager
 
DUTY SCHEDULE: 12 Months
 
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Specialist will manage the day-to-day operations of the KIPP Texas Human Resources Office, including on-boarding, benefits enrollment, and other HR duties as requested. The Human Resources Specialist will help implement new policy changes as they are developed by Human Resources leadership.  The Human Resources Specialist providing support to employees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
The Human Resources Specialist will:
  1. Provide HR Support to employees
    1. First point of contact for all HR Policy related issues
    2. Answer questions and assist with problem resolution for employees and managers
    3. Respond to help tickets in a timely manner
  2. Coordinate the new hire process for KIPP Texas employees and serve as liaison to new hires during onboarding process
    1. Generate and send offer letters and new hire paperwork
    2. Process background checks and I9 forms
    3. Enter employee data into HRIS system (ADP)
    4. Build personnel and confidential files for new employees 
    5. Assist employees with benefits enrollment
    6. Communicate with new hire and hiring manager regarding eligibility to begin work
  3. Maintain Federal and State Compliance in the HR Department
    1. Provide information to new hires on the process for fingerprinting prior to their start date to ensure the safety of KIPP Texas students and employees
    2. Maintain confidential, accurate, and complete files for all KIPP Texas employees
    3. Compile pertinent data as needed when preparing various federal, state, and local reports
    4. Process worker’s compensation claims
    5. Manage FMLA and other leave requests
  4. Provide Administrative Support to the Human Resources Team
    1. Answer employment verification requests in a timely manner
    2. File performance reviews, benefits confirmations, and additional paperwork , as needed
    3. Assist the Human Resources Director and Manager with additional administration of Human Resources functions (FMLA, Workers Compensation, etc.)
    4. Maintain confidentiality of information
  5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience with data entry and use of an HRIS system, like ADP, PeopleSoft, SAP, or equivalent software preferred
  • Bilingual skills a plus
