For more than 15 years, KIPP Austin, KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth, KIPP Houston, and KIPP San Antonio have put thousands of KIPPsters on the path to and through college. The Opportunity
 
KIPP Texas is looking for a Child Nutrition and Transportation Manager manages our child nutrition and transportation vendors, setting and upholding the standards for their work. The Manager also coordinates with all of the schools in the region to collect and respond to feedback and resolve daily and long-term issues. Responsible for managing additional critical projects, including development and maintenance of KPIs and dashboards, additional event logistics, and implementation of new system(s).


Key Responsibilities
 
Transportation Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the management and logistics of transportation operations, including student bus routes, special education transportation, and field trips, and other school-related events.
  • Manages the transportation contract with the local transportation vendor(s).
  • Reports on transportation data and makes data-driven decisions to improve operations results.
  • Manages transportation projects, including the development of bell schedules, bus routes, and communication plans for the following year.
  • Provide transportation training to bus drivers and school staff.
  • Reviews and analyzes transportation invoices to ensure accuracy and manage to the budget.
  • Manages additional high-priority projects as assigned by supervisor, including development and maintenance of operations dashboards, event logistics, and implementation of new system(s).
Child Nutrition Responsibilities
  • Manages contract with the KIPP San Antonio Food Services vendor.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, local, and federally regulated food nutrition programs
  • Develops, prepares, and maintains a fiscally sound Child Nutrition Program budget by focusing on student participation and serving high quality meals.
  • Work closely with Food Service Management Company to build menu, oversee food production amounts, and set delivery times.
  • Supervise all school cafeterias to ensure menu is being followed, portion sizes are correct, food is tasty and appealing, lines are moving efficiently, and all sanitation, health and safety guidelines are being observed.
  • Review and process NSLP meal applications and communicate to families whether or not they qualify for Free or Reduced meals.
  • Builds relationships with school leadership and staff, as well as Vendor staff working in the schools.
  • Prepares and manages audits and inspections involving Food Services.
  • Responsible for proper accounting for all meal reimbursements, invoices and payments.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
 
Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of work experience in operations, logistics, or a related field; management experience required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional project management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop productive working relationships.
  • Team player capable of working both collaboratively and independently.

  • Prior experience working in a school or school system is not required.
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is strongly preferred
Working Conditions
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of 20-50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling, regular heavy lifting (44 pounds and over).
  • Travel between/within campuses.
  • May work with unusual noise levels, low or intense illumination, moving objects, hot conditions, and may work alone for long periods of time.
  • This is an overtime exempt position role, and extended hours may be necessary or required.
  • Role may include attending events outside of regular business hours.
 
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
