For more than 15 years, KIPP Austin, KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth, KIPP Houston, and KIPP San Antonio have put thousands of KIPPsters on the path to and through college. The Opportunity
 
The Staff Accountant will support the Accounts Payable Manager in all accounts payable functions and provide guidance to school staff and Shared Service Partners on accounts payable related questions. He or she will have a significant role in ensuring compliance of internal controls, financial policies, and coding. 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system
  • Prepare accounts payable checks for printing and distribution
  • Answer inquiries from employees and outside vendors regarding accounts payable and related matters
  • Help design accounts payable processes to better serve our schools (i.e. develop useful, step-by-step processes related to accounts payable)
  • Play a role in system integration of the PO system and accounting system
  • Enter routine journal entries into the accounting system
  • Assist with preparing for annual financial audits
 
Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business or Accounting degree preferred)
  • Previous experience with non-profit, accounts payable, education and/or fund accounting preferred; May be substituted with adequate finance/accounting experience in the private/government sector
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn and work with finance/accounting software platforms
  • Possess an ability to break down complex information into manageable parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Works well with a team and independently; ability to work cross-functionally with other departments (HR, Development, Operations, etc.)
  • Positive, customer service-oriented attitude
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial and outcome-driven environment
 
 
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
