Background

Founded in Houston in 1994, KIPP has become a national leader in the movement to provide all children with access to an exemplary education and the academic and character skills necessary to thrive in and graduate from college, positively impact their communities, and lead choice-filled lives.

In 2018, KIPP schools in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio joined forces to become KIPP Texas Public Schools, a nonprofit public charter school network, accelerating student academic outcomes and impact more students across Texas. KIPP Texas is part of the national KIPP network of 224 college-preparatory public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP schools are part of the free public school system and enrollment is open to all students. Nationwide, KIPP students complete four-year college at a rate of 36 percent, comparable to the national average for all students and approximately three times higher than the average of students from low-income families.

The Opportunity
KIPP Texas Public Schools is seeking an experienced individual to support state-wide organizational excellence efforts. Specifically, this role will be responsible for coordinating collaboration efforts across OneSong leaders, leading the CEO’s state-wide process improvement initiatives, and owning the production and distribution of executive communications from members of T2. Additionally, this role will lead the development and adoption of the KIPP Texas Decision Management Framework. This role will report to the CEO or other KIPP Texas Chief.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizational Excellence: establish an internal framework of standards and processes intended to engage and motivate Team & Family members to fulfill commitments to students and families.  
  • Process Improvement: improve the alignment and performance of specific KIPP Texas processes. The scope of process improvement includes the selection, analysis, design, and implementation of the (improved) process.
  • Executive Communications: The development of internal and external communication plans and the creation of communications for members of Team Texas (T2). 
  • Decision Management: Enabling KIPP Texas and its leaders to make more effective, timely, and impactful decisions by establishing the KIPP Texas Decision Management Framework. This Decision Management Framework will be used as a communication device and stakeholder engagement platform. 

Skills and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Experience working with first generation, low income and/or under-represented students. Experience in a shared leader or school leader role is preferred. 

  • 3-5 years of experience leading and managing a large, high performing team

  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively, and maintain focus

  • Track record of working effectively with different stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable using Excel and Google spreadsheets

  • Proactive execution, speed, agility and the ability to influence and lead change

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; experience working in a matrix environment where creating collaboration and influence are required for generating results.

  • Preparing various presentations that compel messages about the organization

  • Driving messages from the corporate platform into communication plans and strategies

  • Influencing the stakeholders on strategic messaging

Compensation and Benefits
Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
