ABOUT KIPP TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS

KIPP Texas Public Schools is part of a non-profit network of 209 college-preparatory, public charter schools around the country educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP schools are united by a common mission, a commitment to excellence, and a belief that if we help children develop the academic and character strengths they need to succeed in college and live choice-filled lives, they will be able to build a better tomorrow for themselves and for their communities.

KIPP schools are managed regionally and for more than 15 years, KIPP Austin, KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth, KIPP Houston, and KIPP San Antonio have put thousands of KIPPsters on the path to and through college. This year, they will collectively educate over 25,000 students in more than 50 schools, covering a geographic area of over 400 miles. These four regions have a long history of informal collaboration, and they are actively formalizing their alliance to create a single organization called KIPP Texas Public Schools. As one super region, KIPP Texas Public Schools will leverage efficiencies of scale to benefit students, families, teachers, and staff.

At KIPP Texas Public Schools outstanding educators, more time in school, a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, and a strong culture of achievement and support help our students make significant academic gains and continue to excel in college. Approximately 85 percent of our students are considered economically disadvantaged and most students come from neighborhoods where approximately five percent of residents graduate from college. At a time when many have given up on public education, KIPP schools are raising expectations.
