Here’s what you need to know:

We need you to put our students on a path to college early on in their education.

Working at KIPP New Jersey is about being student-focused.  It's about teamwork.  It's about having fun, and having the freedom to lead in ways that are most successful for your students.  It’s also about making an impact in Camden, a city that is experiencing a renaissance and on the verge of revolutionizing how America views education in urban communities.

We’re looking for an Associate Director of School Operations (ADSO) at our Lanning Square Campus.  Lanning Square is KIPP New Jersey’s first ever K-8 building in Camden.  The ADSO will work across several operational functions in order to ensure the best possible environment for teaching and learning.  Among the ADSO’s primary responsibilities are managing transportation, coordinating purchasing, researching and negotiating goods and services, supporting campus events and field trips, communicating requisitions and tracking delivery, assisting the Director of Campus Operations (DCO) in designing school-wide routines and procedures and managing the nutrition program.

A bit more about you… You’re really organized. You can manage a lot of priorities and responsibilities at once. You care about kids and want to do everything you can to make sure they have a great school environment in which to learn.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Instructional Support
  • Create and distribute academic and behavioral reports
  • Manage all testing and assessment logistics for NJSLA and MAP testing, from creating the testing schedule to ensuring the facility is prepared for seamless testing
  • Collaborate with the Lanning Square Primary School Leader and the Lanning Square Middle School Leader to create and maintain the school schedule

Transportation Management
  • Manage bussing program and serve as a liaison with bus companies to resolve incidents
  • Submit bussing requests to Camden City School District when students move to a new address or when a new student enrolls
  • Develop bussing procedures such as behavior policies and arrival/dismissal procedures, in collaboration with Ops and leadership teammates
  • Communicate proactively with parents and teammates as challenges arise and troubleshoot as needed

Event Planning and Management
  • Coordinate school events such as Saturday School, parent meetings, assemblies, shows, and field trips
  • Coordinate report card nights, family events, visitor days, and graduation & “moving up” ceremonies
  • Coordinate transportation for all school events
  • Present event logistics to staff, ensuring that all staff know their roles and help to successfully execute the vision of each event

Purchasing
  • Process purchasing requests from teachers, grade-level chairs, department chairs, school leaders, and other stakeholders
  • Track orders and deliveries to ensure that all purchasing requests are fulfilled within the 30-day purchasing timeline

Vendor Management
  • Work with external service providers to ensure smooth and seamless delivery of services from transportation to food service to instructional supplies
  • Monitor food service operations to ensure proper meal tracking and procedures for compliance with the rules and regulations of the National School Lunch Program

Special Projects
  • Collaborate with the DCO and school leaders to manage and monitor the schools’ budgets
  • Manage and support development of campus aides and the school receptionist

Must Haves (ie: what you need to rock at this role):
  • Commitment to do whatever it takes to ensure our teachers and students have what they need to be successful
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter and determined problem-solver who works best in a goal-oriented, timeline-driven environment with the ability to create and innovate
  • Strong organization skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the staff in two separate schools, including two School Leaders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to proactively problem-solve and anticipate challenges before they occur
  • Experience identifying inefficiencies and generating creative solutions
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Customer service orientation and ability to find joy in being challenged
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
